This documentary was fantastic. WarDance follows a group of children from a Northern Uganda refugee camp as they train and compete in the Ugandan Musical Competition. Individual's stories were interspersed with the journey of their music group. The darkness and harshness of their stories, though, did not make for a really dark movie. It was actually quite hopeful, as students were developing a new identity through their music. It was incredibly aesthetically pleasing - stunning actually. There have only been a couple other docs that we've watched that have seemed to put so much thought and energy into creating such visually pleasing images (Manufactured Landscapes - Touch the Sound).
