Content *****
For me, this was one of the most interesting documentaries we've watched, as it deals with the philosophies and practices of peace and violence. It was a powerful education for me to see the Weather Underground's movement into the need for violent revolution. This doc is mainly archival footage underlayed and supplemented by present day interviews with members of the Weather Underground. All of the members were really fascinating individuals, and looking back on that period of their life, they showed vulnerability and insight.
Organization ****
This doc was basically structured as a chronological history of the Weather Underground movement from its origins as Students for a Democratic Society, to the surrenders of the members to the FBI. This structure served its purpose and anything else would have been confusing.
Style ****
As mentioned earlier, most of the film was archival footage, which almost always looks great. The Vietnam footage was graphic, but that was the point. There were some film-recollections by some of the Weathermen that were very creative.
Mechanics ****
The doc flowed pretty smoothly. No glaring mechanical errors/oddities.
