Born into Brothels

Whoa. Always enlightening to see how life is elsewhere. And heartening to see that something as simple as having their photos taken seriously gave the children hope and drive to go beyond the red light district they were born in. When the children finally got into schools and so many of them dropped out or weren't allowed to go, I was reminded of Canadian First Nations students I know who have not been able to remain away from family in order to improve their education and thereby improve their chances of living a less distressed life. Stunning that our nature drives us to stay in known situations even when those situations hurt us. Wonderful to hear that in follow up so many of the children from this film had returned to school and were able to move away from the harsh living conditions of their parents.
